So here we have it...
Reflecting
By Daniel .M. Brown
He sat down looking puzzled at the object on the table in front of him, some kind of mirror perhaps? He thought. Suddenly the dull outline of his face disappeared behind a different image, the flat surface had come alive.
The sudden glare startled him, his eyes adjusted and his refocusing vision brought with it a breathtaking sight. He no longer saw the shape of his face, but instead now he saw the world, things that were impossibly far off appeared before him, then he would see familiar places and people. People he had known many years ago, People he knew now and people who he did not recognize. How had these people come to him? Had they? Or was he being taken to them? He did not know. How could he?
Why had he never seen this before? He considered all the things that he might have done or achieved had he had this knowledge, this powerful mine of information earlier in his life. He could have become very successful indeed had he known what he was learning only now. A window to anywhere on earth, a glance into peoples lives, a way to see the impossible, a miracle surely.
While this display of remarkable images continued to capture his imagination as he thought about the people and places he was seeing in front of him he noticed something lingering in the background of it all, a softly outlined shape. He switched his attention to this to realize that it was still his own slight reflection, the image of himself there with all the other things he was seeing. There he was, part of this thing, the reflection of his eyes could just be made out, and he saw himself mixing with this thing almost physically, his own image blurred into to rest of the world.
While he lingered on this poetic discovery a door opened behind him. But he stared on still amazed.
A voice spoke, a simple question was asked, yet it destroyed the mysticism of it all. “How long are you going to be?” The voice said, “I need to go on the computer soon.”
The End.
Yes, I did manage to sneak this in under geek week!
Thanks for reading/listening, I’ll speak to you again very soon,
Until then as always look after yourself and have fun,
dan
