Hope you are well lads and lasses! I will first apologise for how long it has taken me to get this story online! I have been delayed by a cold and then by yesterdays temporary blip on apples servers which took the whole inverted universe offline for a moment or two! Well I am afraid to say that I am back now! To make up for the delay I will try and get two more episodes online in the next 10 days! Wooo! Now that will be a treat! But now...

Away From it All?

    The front door closed behind him. It was painful to look at as the bright sun reflected off the white glossy surface. The heat of the day immediately asserted itself on the young walker.

    “Oh well” He thought, “I have already decided to go out, to late to back out now”.

    Just the thought of having to undo his laces on his walking boots so soon was enough to put him off going back inside! He realised how backwards it seemed that he would rather walk ten miles than have to unhook his laces, as if the laces were the most tedious thing in the world. With this unusual beginning he trotted off down the street on his next little adventure.

    A quick stop in the supermarket he worked at to top up on supplies for the trip, even this early in the morning the milk had been allowed to run out, this being his usual job he couldn’t help but feel slightly put out that somebody else had not bothered to do this simple task in his absence. But there it was, not his problem today, he had a few miles to get under his belt before tea time! Fizzy drinks and crisps bought, he followed the road out of town.

    He got himself out of town and into the countryside within twenty minutes and once again that surreal calm and old world peace washed over him. The woods seemed like a good destination, if only to get the sun off his neck. So down the windy lanes he went. The high hedges blocking off the views, until every now and then a gate into a field would offer a window into the sprawling flat lands where the cows roamed around like royalty! Eating and sleeping, what a life. No supermarket work for them... that thought didn’t seem to quite settle with him, a few steps down the road he realised, these are dairy cows... they are the ones who produce the milk in the first place!

    He took one last look at the field full of cows before they disappeared back behind the hedge, with a little smile he once again pondered the strange way in which the world seems to work. Grinning like an idiot in his usual way when something amuses him he turned his attention back to the road, with a single last thought on the subject, “There really is no getting away from it all is there?”. With that he pressed on with his adventure.
