Welcome back ladies and gentlemen, a nice little review for you today. Following on from the previous review of “Shooting The Past” I am now going to add another of Stephen Poliakoff’s creations to the review reel.
Keeping with recent tradition I will keep this short and I won’t destroy the plot or mention any potential spoilers. In many ways this is a very similar series to shooting the past. Even from the DVD cover you can see that there is an element of history in it and photographs are once again used as a centrepiece for various story lines to work around. Yet at the same time this is completely different to Shooting The Past.
The basic storyline here follows the events at a large wealthy families reunion and particularly the stories of one of the poorer relations who lost their money and became distant from the family. The general themes in the series are focussed around family and history... and the relationships between them. As with Shooting The Past I found that once I started watching this I had difficulty in stopping even though I didn’t really want the series to end!
The story is split into three episodes that run for a total of roughly four hours, these are four excellent hours of interesting storytelling. I really do once again find myself compelled to recommend everyone to get themselves a copy. How much did I enjoy it? Well I found myself setting my alarm slightly earlier so that I could watch a few sneaky minutes before the day began!
Hhhhmmmm judging by what is written above I should really work on my review technique! Oh well if you take away nothing else from the above just know that I highly recommend it! The usual links are below for anybody who wishes to help the site out!
Thanks for reading,
As always,
Look after yourself,
and have fun,
dan
